Theatre in the Mountains’ tradition of producing family musicals featuring local talent continues with return of their Main Stage Productions with the presentation of The Secret Garden with only three performances remaining and tickets still available. This Tony Award winning musical premiered on Broadway in 1991, and is the work of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Marsha Norman and Grammy Award winning musician Lucy Simon.  Based on the beloved children=s classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett, published in 1911, The Secret Garden is produced, directed and designed by Douglas A. Hagdohl, II along with co-producer Laurel Dentoni.  They have assembled an amazing cast of Alumni and Bay Area performers.  The cast features two local young performers: Natalie Jagelski as Mary Lenox, and Ethan Arns as Colin Craven.  Mary=s Uncle Archibald is played by Tim Reynolds.  The residents of Misselthwaite Manor include the stern Mrs. Medlock, played by Leslie Newport, and the formidable Dr. Craven, played by Greg Ferrar.  Mary is befriended by her servant Martha (Colette Phelps), Martha=s brother Dickon (Justin Torres), and the gardener Ben Weatherstaff (Chuck Nelson). The cast also includes Barbara Reynolds as Archibald’s deceased wife Lily, Tom Arns as Mary=s father Albert, as her mother Rose is portrayed by Kereli Jones on August 22, 24, 30 or Nell Griscom on August 23, 29, 31, and Tiana Freiri as Mary=s Ayah.  Featuring spectacular sets, costumes and special effects, fabulous music and breathtaking performances that have caused first weekend audience members to say “Amazing”, “Spectacular” and “. . . the best interpretation of this musical ever seen.  This one amazing production not to be missed!  The Secret Garden is proving to be a highlight of Theatre in the Mountains 2008 season. The Secret Garden plays Friday, August 29th and Saturday, August 30th at 8:00pm and Sunday, August 31st at 2:00pm.  Tickets are $18.50 for Adults, $14.00 for Senior/Student and group rates are available.  This is a very popular musical, so if you have not order your tickets yet, we suggest you order by phone - (408) 353-9999.  Tickets will be available at the door.  Theatre in the Mountains is a program of the Loma Prieta Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the community's interest in the arts, providing theatrical opportunities for children and adults throughout the year.
