Introducing... Jeran Brown
I'm a 26 year old baritone living, working, studying and performing in Fresno, California. Opera is my passion! I began my formal training at the age of 14. I studied music at Humbolt State University and am currently finishing up some college GED at Fresno City College. I enjoy performing for the Fresno Opera Guild, performing with the Fresno Grand Opera as well as in the opera workshops at the college. Vocal competitions are wonderful too! I look forward to auditioning for other great opera companies in the future. I was born and raised in Alturas, California and spent both my childhood and young adult life in the Modoc community. I was consistently active with Modoc Performing Arts Theater, as wells as the Modoc High School Drama Club. I performed in concert-choir, concert-band and jazz-band during my scholastic career as an Intermediate and High School student under the direction of Karen Siegel, an imminent figure in my early musical development. I was selected as a participant in over eleven honor choirs between my 8th and 12th grade years including regional and all-state honor choirs, two of which I was selected as a soloist. I moved on to become a student at Humboldt State University where I excelled in the opera/vocal program under the instruction of noted vocal/choral master Dr. Harley Muilenburg. I was constantly active as a principal singer in HSU’s opera workshop and scenes program as well as concert and madrigal choir events. I am recently living in Fresno, California where I continue my vocal education at Fresno City College with noted vocal coach and professional pianist Suzanne Willis and soprano Melissa Wolfmann. I have recently been under the tutalage of international tenor Antonio Nagore and am focused on transferring to finish my vocal/educational credits at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Some of my most recent achievements include being both 1st and 2nd annual winner of the Audience Choice Awards for the Fresno Opera League Scholarship Auditions competition, winner of the exclusive Outstanding Musicians Award and Friends of the Arts Scholarship at Fresno City College, the Bell T. Ritchie Award of the Fresno Music Club Scholarship Auditions and two-time participant of the Young Artists Spotlight radio program on KVPR-Valley Public Radio in Fresno California. Recent engagements with Fresno Grand Opera include Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” as chorister, both the Naval Commander and Inn Keeper in Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” and most recently have debuted in Puccini’s “Madama Butterly” as the Imperial Commissioner. I have recently performed the title role of Don Giovanni in a scenes program with the Fresno City College Opera Workshop as well as various aria and duet scene programs also with Fresno City College Opera Workshop.
