Introducing... Kevin Wickart
Like most people here, I am an unrecovering act-oholic. I did a lot of theatre--musical and otherwise--in high school, but since I was not intending to go into acting as a profession, college and career prevented me from doing more. A few years ago I caught the bug again, and have been lucky enough to find a number of local theatre groups that are willing to put me on stage. I've even started picking up a few paying gigs.
Though I have no formal acting training, I have been fortunate to work with trained actors and talented directors--some of whom are acting teachers as well. With their patient guidance and my own observation, I have learned a great deal about the craft.
For me, the best part of the theatre experience is being a member of a team--cast, crew, orchestra, etc.--that is working together to create an amazing experience for the audience. In photo-finish second place are the new friends I make and keep with every show.
If the fates are kind, I'll be performing for the rest of my life. After that, they can stuff me and use me as set dressing.
