Introducing... Orla Colleton

Orla has a BA (hons) in Applied Music with a specialisation in solo performance in voice, (completed at Dundalk Institute of Technology), and a Postgraduate Higher Diploma in Music Education, (completed at Trinity College). She holds all RIAM vocal grades and certificates along with pianoforte, speech and drama and public speaking grades.

Orla started her singing career many years ago when she was awarded a scholarship for voice training with the Royal Irish Academy of Music under Suzanne Murphy and has gone on since to study under Deidre Grier-Delany, Collete Mc Gahan-Tosh and Kathryn Smith.

Orla is no stranger to stage and has performed many lead and chorus roles with performance groups such as Festival Productions, Lyric Opera, Theatre Royal, Glasnevin Musical Society, Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society, DKIT Drama Group, Together Youth Theatre, The Irish Variety Concert Ensemble, Irish Vocal Masterclasses and has performed at DKIT Department of Music Christmas Concerts, shows, and solo performance recitals.

Orla has performed at many wedding ceremonies, receptions, festivals and corporate functions at home and abroad and her talents have seen her travel through out Ireland and abroad to Ghent (Belgium), Wales, Scotland, England, Bad-Lippspringe (Germany), France and Cheshem (Buckinghamshire) and America.

‘Madama Butterfly’, (The Mother) Lyric Opera, National Concert Hall, Dublin.
Glasnevin Musical Society Christmas Concert, National Concert Hall, Dublin (NCH) as soloist.
‘Wallace, Balfe and Mr. Bunn’, Theatre Royal, Waterford, as guest soloist (Maritana). A new musical play written by Bernard Farrell for the reopening of Theatre Royal.
‘The Gondoliers’, (Vittoria) Lyric Opera (NCH and Buxton Opera House) - International Champions of the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival three years running.
‘Temptations’, (Gianetta from L’eisir d’Amore) Lyric Opera, (NCH).
‘The Turn of the Screw’, (Governess) and ‘Street Scene’, (2nd Nursemaid), Irish Vocal Masterclasses ’09.
‘Mese Mariana’, (Carmela), Irish Vocal Masterclasses ’08.
‘Westside Story’ (Maria), ‘Guys and Dolls (Sarah), Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdeline), ‘Joseph’ (Narrator), ‘Crazy for you’ (Zanglers Diva, Created part), ‘The Beggars Opera’ (Diva), ‘Oliver!’ (Rose seller) – Festival Productions.

Chorus:
Norma, The Magic Flute, The Elixir of Love, Lucia Di Lammemoore, La Traviata at the National Concert Hall (NCH), Dublin with Lyric Opera. Mikado (NCH and Buxton Opera House) with Lyric Opera. ‘Rodgers & Hammerstein - An Evening With The Musical Greats’, Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society, Les Miserables, Grease, Carosel, The Music Man and An Iarlais.


Travelled with the Irish Variety Concert Ensemble as Soloist to perform at the Mid-summer Norton and Almwick Festival, The Annual Celtic Festival (Ghent, Belgium) and the 58th Llangollen International Musical Festival (Wales).

Performed at the Irish/Cultural Festival in Bad-Lippsringe (Germany).

Performed for Burgermeister Herr Willi Schmidt (Germany) on his visit to Newbridge for the Bealtainne Festival which resulted in an invitation to study music at the University in Detmold, Germany.

Sang at a special mass for Therese of Leiseux, Corps-Nuds, (France).

Performed the “Sean O’Riada” Mass for the parents and children of Irish Decendents, Cheshen (Buckinghamshire).
