| Synopsis: |
Set amid the refined elegance and gracious romanticism of the Edwardian era, Love’s Labor Lost is a hilarious and occasionally heartbreaking romp concerning the King of Navarre and three noble companions, Berowne, Dumaine, and Longaville who take an oath to devote themselves to three years of study, foreswearing bodily pleasures and the company of women. Trouble ensues when the Princess of France and her retinue of three lovely young women arrive and love is in the air. However, when the Princess’ father dies she and the other women return to France. Instead of wedding bells, the women tell their suitors to seek them again in a year, and the play ends with their departure. |
