Proposals is a nostalgic play that recalls an afternoon in the Pocono Mountains in the 1950s. The family’s housekeeper Clemma narrates the story, which revolves around relationships at a family gathering. In this play, Clemma worries about a visit from her ex-husband. Also the story of the family includes various relationship stories. Burt, the father in the story, looks forward to the arrival of his ex-wife. His daughter contemplates her love life as she has just broken off an engagement to a Harvard law student. The cast of characters also includes Ray, an aspiring writer, and Vinnie, a Miami gangster.
