Introducing... Timothy Faatz

Countertenor and tenor Timothy P. Faatz is an ardent musician, performing semi-professionally both locally and abroad. He has been involved in a variety of Twin Cities based ensembles which include the Prodigals Quartet, Consortium Carissimi, Evangelion Chorale, East Central Minnesota Chorale, Bach Society of Minnesota, ELM Ensemble, Apollo Male Chorus, and the Cathedral Choir at the Cathedral of Saint Paul.

Additionally, Faatz has performed as a guest soloist for oratorio and concert performances in the United States, Germany, and Ukraine. Notable works he has performed consist of Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Durufle's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Pärt's Stabat Mater, Schubert's Magnificat, Victoria’s Officium Defunctorum, and Vivaldi's Gloria, Magnificat, Stabat Mater, and Nisi Dominus.

Faatz has had the esteemed privilege to perform under the batons of Dr. Dennis Port, Dr. Robert Berglund, Garrick Comeaux, Dr. Sean Vogt, Paul Boehnke, and Dr. Marilyn and James Biery.

Critics have praised his work stating, “He [Faatz] adds a luster and stability to the alto section that makes the entire choir sound richer,” and that “he is a singer to watch, for he has enormous potential.” — Dr. Marilyn Biery, associate artistic director, Cathedral of Saint Paul.

Faatz studied Applied Vocal Performance at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN, and has studied with Dr. RubyAnn Poulson (Bethel), Dr. Shari Anderson (NYC), and Leah Frey-Rabine (Germany).
