Introducing... katarina van droogenbroeck
Katarina Thesier started her musical studies when she was 6, playing the violin and the piano. She began singing at the age of 21, after studying languages. (German and French)
She started her vocal studies at the Music Conservatory in Liège (Belgium) with the Belgian soprano Greta de Reyghere, who had an international career in Baroque Music.
Through her studies and participating to several Young Artist Programs, Katarina performed the roles of Sesto (G.F. Händel: Giulio Cesare), Dido (Purcell: Dido & Aeneas), Cherubino and Dorabella (Mozart), Hänsel (Humperdinck: Hänsel und Gretel), Octavian (R.Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier), Romeo (Bellini: I Capuleti ed I Montecchi)
After having completed her Masters, Katarina decided to pursue her vocal studies with the American soprano Abbie Furmansky who teaches in Berlin.
Next to her passion for Opera, she is also an active and passionate recitalist, specialised in French and German Art Song. She already performed several concerts and recitals in Belgium and Germany, and performed in several Belgian Festivals (Bruxelles-Bravo, Satie Festival...) She currently resides in Berlin.
