Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre selection, Elvis Presley, or other similar style and bring sheet music in your key and be prepared to dance. All roles available and an accompanist will be provided. You may be asked to do cold readings from the script.

Play Synopsis & Cast

All Shook Up is set in a small Midwest town in 1955 and is about a hip-swiveling, guitar playing
roustabout, Chad, who roars into town on a motorcycle looking for excitement. Natalie, a sweet
young local girl, who is also the town’s motorcycle mechanic, dreams of leaving this dreary little
town for love and adventure. Chad, needing some work on his motorcycle, is introduced to Nata-
lie, who is instantly smitten, and this musical is off and running, with 24 Elvis Presley songs
woven into the script to tell the story.

In addition to Chad and Natalie, the cast includes:

Jim, Natalie’s widowed father
Sylvia, the no-nonsense owner of Sylvia’s Honky Tonk
Lorraine, Sylvia’s 16 year old daughter
Dennis, a young, awkward, aspiring dentist
Miss Sandra, the beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town’s museum
Mayor Matilda Hyde, the town’s conservative mayor
Dean Hyde, Matilda’s 16 year old son who has grown up at a boarding school
Sheriff Earl, the law in town, and a man of not many words
Chorus, with lots of opportunities for singing and dancing
