What Jayakumar has told is right. But you should insist the buyer to come to the RTO with you and you should make sure that the vehicle gets transfered to his name. Otherwise you may land in trouble in future, if he uses the car for some illegal activities or the car meets with an accident & kills or harms somebody (Assuming he does not renew the insurance). Merely holding the delivery note signed by him will not help you.
