Urinetown audition

Postby OperaChick on Wed May 23, 2007 10:53 am

I am hoping to audition for "Urinetown" at my undergraduate college this fall, and was wondering what songs I should sing at my audition. I'm hoping for the role of Hope Cladwell; I'm a light soprano with a nice middle register as well (not quite a belt, but I can project). Any advice would be much appreciated! Very Happy

Hope is the ingenue. So we want something sweet, but with a little additude, because it is Urinetown.

Look at some Sondheim:
The Miller's Son (ALNM)
Green Finch and Linnet Bird (Sweeney Todd)

Also Much More from THe Fantasticks is sticking into my head. It might be overdone, however. Also you might want to check out the accompaniment to the Sondheims.
