Janet Van DeGraaff audition advice

I am auditioning for the part of Janet Van DeGraaff, a leading character in the musical "The Drowsy Chaperone". My musical number is "Show Off Encore". My question is this: what is Janet's attitude when singing this song? She's singing about quitting show biz, but it seems like she's not singing it very humbly. It's almost like she's contradicting herself...quitting show biz but singing and dancing in this number like a passionate performer.

Any advice on what to wear to the audition and the attitude needed to portray this character correctly would be most appreciated!
