Appropriate audition songs

Postby chivepicker on Tue Jul 17, 2007 2:47 pm

I want to audition for Sister Mary Amnesia in Nunsense. I'm looking for an appropriate audition song. Knowing what we know about her, it would seem natural to maybe use a country song, but I can't find a Broadway country song. Any other ideas to suggest her character in the audition song?

I don't know Nunsense, but "Let's Make Believe We're in Love" from Footloose is a country Boradway song.

I may be small/But I've got giant plans/to shine as brightly as the sun.... "Astonishing" from Little Women

I'm not familiar with Nunsense, but a song that comes to mind is "Oklahoma" from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels... it's pretty funny! Maybe something from Annie Get Your Gun or Oklahoma.

I agree with "Lets make believe were in love" from Footloose. It is a good choice. I choreographed nunsence for my community theatre and the sister amnesia didn't have to sing in a thick country style, so you don't neccessarily need to sing a country song.
