The setting is in Asia. It is about a man who goes under the sea and he thinks he is only there for a few hours but when he gets back to the surface he realizes he was gone for many years.

Can anyone help me remember the name of this show?

In the Japanese legend of Urashima Taro, the fisherman befriends a turtle who takes him to an undersea kingdom. After a while, he decides he wants to go back home, and is given a box he is told never to open. When he arrives back on land, he finds that a hundred years have passed. Don't know if the show had the same name as the story.
