Constellation Theatre Company tells big, powerful stories in an intimate space. Our mission is to spark the curiosity and imagination of the people of greater Washington, DC with world-class entertainment that features visual spectacle, dynamic movement, live music, and passionate acting ensembles. Drawing from the genres of fantasy, farce, and epic adventure, Constellation transports audiences to new and exciting worlds where the action is larger than life. Since our founding in 2007, Constellation has brought to life 41 diverse and vibrant stories from 16 countries. Constellation received the John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Company from the Helen Hayes Awards in 2009 and the prestigious National Theatre Company Award from the American Theatre Wing in 2013. According to Metro Weekly magazine, Constellation “does some of the best, most adventurous, most reliable work in town, all presented on an epic scale with a level of intimacy that can’t be beat.”

In a city known for its large and dynamic theatre scene, Constellation has emerged as a vital, innovative theatre company known for creating dramatic spectacles with heightened style. As a resident company at CulturalDC’s Source Theatre on 14th Street, NW, we produce four imaginatively staged shows each season in the 100-seat black box space. With each production, we transform the intimate space with intricate sets, vibrant costumes, colorful lighting and live music. We regularly change the audience configuration, heightening the dramatic experience and forging unique connections between actors and audiences.
