Simon Schama is an English historian and television presenter. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1966, where he then began lecturing. Schama specialises in art history and European history, and is currently a Professor of History and Art History at Columbia University. Alongside his academic career, Schama is known for writing many popular books, including Citizens, A History of Britain Vols.1-3, The Fate of Empire, and Rough Crossings. Schama adapted A History of Britain into a hugely successful 15-part BBC series which he also hosted, and he is also know for other documentary series such as The American Future: A History and The Story of the Jews. Schama was knighted in the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
